How I Eat
The primary source of my eating habits ...
is Precision Nutrition by John Berardi.
I discovered this system at Skwigg's World or more precisely, on her nifty "What I Eat" photo page!
The food Skwigg ate looked healthy, it looked EASY and it looked tasty. After seeing those food pictures, I wanted to know what this Precision Nutrition system she mentioned was about! So I followed her links and discovered JohnBerardi.com and his nutrition articles there. They made good common sense to me when I read them.
So, after thinking it over for a while, I bit the bullet in January 2007 and bought the program and signed up on the PN forums. You know what, the healthier eating style is working for me. I lost weight last year and feel better. It's one of the best things I've done for myself.
Oh, this style of eating does require some planning and prep, but it's not bad once you get used to it. The cookbook with the PN system is super, but I recently bought the new Gourmet Nutrition 2.0 from Precision Nutrition and it's even BETTER!
Mind you, it's perfectly possible to eat similarly to this without buying any book or system, you can find plenty of free information on this style of eating, i.e. frequent, small, balanced meals 5x-6x times daily, on the internet. But if I had to do it all over again... I'd *still* buy the PN system. It's been too helpful with the detailed information on how to do the planning and prep to eat this way. The PN forums are an invaluable fitness and health resource, open for anyone to register and read for FREE!
At any rate, I hope at a later date to perhaps post the details of some of my meals perhaps with pictures, so you can see that I'm not starving myself and that the food is great! I'm learning more about cooking too.
One of the nice things... since I am eating every 3 hours, I rarely get hungry. Sometimes it seems like too much food! It's quite a change from my old meal skipping habits, but I know it is better for me.
