Starting challenge weight: 223.4 pounds Height: 5'7" Age: still 51 Current weight: 221.2 pounds. Back to week one's weight loss.
Weight lost since start of challenge: 2.2 pounds
Inches lost since the start of the challenge... they are adding up! Still having trouble getting consistent measures on my shoulder girth. But I'm seeing drops in other places! My swimsuit is easier to tug on!
Energy level: WAY UP TODAY! I'm good with it!
The aftermath of my big Monday cheat
This last cheat was a large one... I was really feeling the calorie deficit and all I wanted to do was ingest calories. So I did. Was it responsible for NO scale progress? Possibly. On the other hand, I did see good inches lost progress this week, so it may have been the right thing to do. Fat obviously got lost if inches are down! You can see how a cheat creates a huge water weight spike. But, if one drinks one's water, you can also see how quickly the weight drops back down.
I may try a clean carb cheat for this Monday.
The previous measurements were taken November 1st, 2008.
If there's change... I sure haven't been able to tell in the pictures. Oddly, last night when I was brushing my teeth, I thought my jawline was better. And I did see a small decrease in my neck measurement today! I haven't quite dared to compare the starting picture against the current.
Yesterday (Friday) was OK. Headaches are only pain. Pain can be managed. Even low energy can be dealt with. No way could I be out of reserves after my cheat day Monday! No way. I remembered another little strategy in the car on the way to the gym... a song.
I take melodies I know and put my own words to them. I started this little habit when I was young... Mom had asked me to clean my closet and I was like "Do I HAVE to?" Anyway, to pass the time more agreeably, I made a closet cleaning song to the tune of "I've Been Working On The Railroad". And it helped the task go by. Sometimes I use them to motivate me, sometimes I do them just for amusement value. Making Halloween carols is fun, as in "Deck The Halls With Lots Of Cobwebs"...
I did one a while back to the tune of Alfred P. Doolittle singing "Get Me To The Church On Time" from My Fair Lady. Did I mention I LOVE musicals? At first I couldn't hardly remember the tune OR my words for it, but they came to me. So I sang that to myself while driving and felt better.
Movie version
I'm getting married in the morning!
Ding dong! The bells are gonna chime.
Pull out the stopper!
Let's have a whopper!
But get me to the church on time!
My version, as embarrassing to post as this is...
I'm gonna work out in the morning!
Ding dong! The alarm bell's gonna chime.
I'm gonna do it!
Push myself through it!
Just get me to the gym on time!
Sorry to go all Mary Poppins on ya'll, but you do what you gotta do!
1 hour class, includes warm up, static stretching, aerobics, strength conditioning, more stretching.
For class, I just put my body on auto-pilot. Our instructor had a new CD for us. Even though the music itself wasn't my absolute favorite, I synched into the beat. What I love about water is I can dance there and not hurt anything.
If not one of my peak workouts, it still qualified as good and FUN! And fun is good for whatever ails you! I didn't stay to swim, the pool was a bit cloudy looking. Didn't fancy putting my face in. So I went for a short half mile walk in the basketball gym instead.
